In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Zaccheo Andolina made a precise shot to the right of Jacinto Cuadrado. Boca Juniors's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arkadiusz Banaszak got free with Flavio Vittori in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Manolo Cazorla's late challenge caught a Italy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manolo Cazorla helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Boca Juniors getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Manolo Cazorla hit a great ball. Zaccheo Andolina might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacinto Cuadrado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zaccheo Andolina made a kick off. After some careless play in the Italy defense, Ermegildo Edorta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Flavio Vittori. The Italy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Flavio Vittori should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zaccheo Andolina got free with Jacinto Cuadrado in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Boca Juniors's Jacinto Cuadrado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Boca Juniors from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina got a free kick in the 65th minute. Boca Juniors's Hitzeder Manrique was substituted for Arkadiusz Banaszak. The Boca Juniors supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Italy's performance. The match ended with a win for Italy.
