Maxime Durand showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Octavian Hârtopanu in the 10th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Octavian Hârtopanu in the 12th minute of play forced France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute, Dacian Neacșu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dumitru Oardă showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Barbier in the 18th minute of the match. Octavian Hârtopanu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Peletier in the 25th minute of play forced U 1974's goalkeeper Dumitru Oardă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frank Peletier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dumitru Oardă having to interfere. If Octavian Hârtopanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, France's Robert Chapuis got a free kick in the 33rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Octavian Hârtopanu in the 34th minute of play forced France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, France's goal looked a bit too open when Octavian Hârtopanu came free, but Maxime Durand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes had been played when some careless play by France's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Manuel Balint was slow to take the kick. During this time U 1974's players had a chance to rest. The corner led U 1974's Manuel Balint to fire away a dangerous shot which Maxime Durand despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Frank Peletier came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the France fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Peletier couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Frank Peletier made the kick off in the second half. Maxime Durand showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Octavian Hârtopanu in the 53rd minute of the match. U 1974's Octavian Hârtopanu got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Camille Baume received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Dumitru Oardă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 66 played minutes France got a freekick which was hit by Camille Baume. In the 67th match minute, U 1974 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo De León to maneuver through the defense. After 68 played minutes U 1974 got a freekick which was hit by Dacian Neacșu. France's Frank Peletier got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. France's Maxime Durand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octavian Hârtopanu in the 73rd minute of play. Maxime Durand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octavian Hârtopanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. 79 minutes into the match, Octavian Hârtopanu notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of France's Maxime Durand. Maxime Durand was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dumitru Oardă dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. France's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
