An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 36th minute of play forced Piao FC's goalkeeper Durval Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Alexandrino Quintela sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Durval Soares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gijsbert ter Kruimer hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute, Abílio Pedroso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Durval Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 46th minute of play. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Wim Wilmes succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 52nd playminute. Piao FC's Durval Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 59th minute of play. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 60th minute. A nice corner shot did that Gijsbert ter Kruimer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Durval Soares quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Durval Soares made a huge save. Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Durval Soares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Durval Soares threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Durval Soares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renato Aragão in the 78th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Durval Soares in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 82 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Durval Soares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Durval Soares stood somewhat misplaced when Bas Tuitert came free in front of goal and shot 0-4 to the left of him in the 88 minute. Piao FC's Durval Soares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Piao FC from getting a goal against them. The Piao FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Netherlands's performance. The match ended with a win for Netherlands.
