Rolf Pretzer's late challenge caught a Germany's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 42nd minute, Mel Ecker got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. SC Otten's Olaf Lübke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Sachs in the 45th minute of play. In the 48th minute Albin Holweck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olaf Lübke saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Germany were awarded a corner in the 49th minute after SC Otten's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Frank Sachs took the corner. After the first half Germany were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mirco Maier stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Janik Vogt charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mel Ecker in the 83rd minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frank Sachs struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Olaf Lübke didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Germany. Ronnie Schilder hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frank Sachs in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olaf Lübke saved SC Otten from getting behind.
