To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mário Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute, Mário Maradona left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MINEIROS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Thommy Jadis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caetano Moreira in the 26th minute of the match. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Rodolfo Miranda hit a great ball. In the 29th minute, Miguel Paredes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Moreira in the 38th minute of play forced MINEIROS's goalkeeper Thommy Jadis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Portugal defense, Mário Maradona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mário Maradona to make the kick off. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. MINEIROS were furious when Ricardo Custódio was red carded, 80 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Wilson Amorim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. In the 89th minute, Hao Zhan Ping hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The MINEIROS players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
