The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chiquinho Vargas couldn't finish the play. 20 minutes into the match, Chiquinho Vargas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Maxime Durand, 2-0. Alessandro Capixaba scored 3-0 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Maxime Durand, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 31st minute Camille Baume shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guto Trevisan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Peletier blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guto Trevisan having to make a save. If Camille Baume had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, France's goal looked a bit too open when Alessandro Capixaba came free, but Maxime Durand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 91 played minutes Legion of Boom got a freekick which was hit by Renatinho Soeiro. Legion of Boom's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
