Slovakia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oliver Holub was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 9 played minutes Slovakia got a freekick which was hit by Vít Biskup. 12 minutes into the match, SK Slavoj Vyšehrad's goalkeeper Miloslav Pícha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Metod Mlynar. Metod Mlynar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Miloslav Pícha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ilja Plíhal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Henrich Slany tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SK Slavoj Vyšehrad's Ilja Plíhal quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Pavol Koleno, made in the 42nd minute of the game. Vít Biskup made in the 43rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by SK Slavoj Vyšehrad's Jiří Vrbický. 44 minutes into the game, Jarmil Bůžek was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SK Slavoj Vyšehrad's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Slovakia the free kick. Jarmil Bůžek kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Miloslav Pícha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pavol Koleno in the 47th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jarmil Bůžek was the one to do the kick off. In the 50th minute, Pavol Koleno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Miloslav Pícha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Metod Mlynar in the 56th minute of play. When Metod Mlynar came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Slovakia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Metod Mlynar couldn't finish the play. In the 66th minute, Metod Mlynar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 68 minutes into the game, Metod Mlynar cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Miloslav Pícha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Slovakia's Daniel Suchy got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Miloslav Pícha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Metod Mlynar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oliver Holub fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miloslav Pícha having to interfere. A throw-in in the 78th minute of the game was made by Jiří Vrbický with Jiří Vrbický as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Miloslav Pícha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Metod Mlynar in the 80th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Metod Mlynar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Slovakia's supporters rose to their feet, but Metod Mlynar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Miloslav Pícha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oliver Holub struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Miloslav Pícha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Slovakia. Slovakia's attentive Zigmund Maliar managed to snatch the ball when Jiří Vrbický made a throw-in in the 92nd minute of the game. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Slovakia had played much better football throughout.
