Nuno Antunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 15th minute of the match. Nuno Antunes was a little too slow when Wim Wilmes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 18th minute. The score was now 1-0. In the 20th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Bas Tuitert hit a great ball. Tanausu Vasconcelos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Nuno Antunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Lucjan Mis came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute, Wim Wilmes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0.
