If Pier Kopacz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 13 minutes into the match, Doffes Damer's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Greid Tinsmith reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Pier Kopacz came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Doffes Damer fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pier Kopacz couldn't finish the play. A throw-in in the 19th minute of the game was made by Deodato Magliozzi with Porziano Marchitelli as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. With a little luck, Doffes Damer's Greid Tinsmith got control of the ball when Zaccheo Andolina tried to sneak it across the goal line. Feliks Gniech hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zaccheo Andolina got free with Greid Tinsmith in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Greid Tinsmith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 50th minute. Zaccheo Andolina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Greid Tinsmith read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Flavio Vittori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inge Braa in the 68th minute of the match. In the 72nd match minute, Italy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Deodato Magliozzi to maneuver through the defense. Doffes Damer made a substitution. Carl Nordlander replaced Pier Kopacz. Doffes Damer's Andréas Stigsson was substituted for Greg Barrera. Doffes Damer's Ronaldo Cristi was substituted for Inge Braa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Porziano Marchitelli in the 75th minute of play forced Doffes Damer's goalkeeper Greid Tinsmith to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute of the match Italy got a corner. Doffes Damer's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sigfrido Auletta ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 80th minute, Doffes Damer's Ronaldo Cristi ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Flavio Vittori. Flavio Vittori yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Italy made a substitution. Sansone Vanella replaced Gianpaolo Mascari. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Doffes Damer would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
