The Doffes Damer fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Greid Tinsmith should have stopped the shot. 6 minutes into the match, Doffes Damer's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Greid Tinsmith reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 8th match minute, Italy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Deodato Magliozzi to maneuver through the defense. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Greid Tinsmith showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Siricio Liotta in the 12th minute of the match. If Inge Braa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Flavio Vittori made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Inge Braa sent off a good shot on target. Greid Tinsmith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Greid Tinsmith made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sigfrido Auletta in the 17th minute of play. Doffes Damer's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Italy the free kick. A collision led to Doffes Damer getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Göran Vedholm hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Zaccheo Andolina made the kick off in the second half. Italy's Siricio Liotta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Thiago Alcântara, made in the 53rd minute of the game. Greid Tinsmith made an important save on a dangerous shot by Porziano Marchitelli in the 59th minute. 63 minutes into the match, Doffes Damer's goalkeeper Greid Tinsmith had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sigfrido Auletta. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sigfrido Auletta got free with Greid Tinsmith in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Doffes Damer made a substitution. Ronaldo Cristi replaced Inge Braa. 72 minutes into the match, Ronaldo Cristi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Flavio Vittori. Italy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronaldo Cristi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 81st minute of the game Eliseo Cutri made a throw-in which Gianpaolo Mascari played forward. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy made a substitution. In the 95th minute, Eliseo Cutri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldo Cristi in the 97th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Doffes Damer could leave the field as winners, despite Italy having more of the ball for most of the match.
