The audience thought a goal was coming when Corrado Colagrossi got free with Arnout Reekers in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Campania Ponticelli's Fausto De Marchi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Eikelkamp in the 11th minute of play. 12 minutes into the game, Alexander Frabetti cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 14th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto De Marchi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fausto De Marchi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 22nd minute of play. When Gustaaf Groeneveldt came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustaaf Groeneveldt couldn't finish the play. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Corrado Colagrossi in the 25th minute of the match. Fausto De Marchi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 27th minute of play. Fausto De Marchi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Fausto De Marchi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wim Wilmes went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Campania Ponticelli's Augusto Tristezza got a free kick in the 37th minute. Fausto De Marchi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Giorgio Petrini struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Arnout Reekers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Campania Ponticelli.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Michael Scofield stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 50th minute of the match, but Fausto De Marchi made a huge save. Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giorgio Petrini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fausto De Marchi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 59th minute. Campania Ponticelli's Fausto De Marchi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Campania Ponticelli from getting a goal against them. Fausto De Marchi made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. Lars Meesters received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Fausto De Marchi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giorgio Petrini in the 66th minute of play. Claudio Lepori kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Fausto De Marchi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Scofield in the 76th minute of the match. In the 77th minute, Augusto Tristezza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Campania Ponticelli getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Claudio Lepori hit a great ball. After having played for 83 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Campania Ponticelli players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
