In the 36th minute Sergen Kutsalan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romo Viñambre in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Sergen Kutsalan came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luciano Barreiros in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnout Reekers saved Netherlands from getting behind. Netherlands's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
