Yngve Fredriksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Djurgårdens IF's Karl-Åke Termander in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Yngve Fredriksson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 23rd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edward Vanderstraeten in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yngve Fredriksson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Edward Vanderstraeten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 25 minutes into the match, Djurgårdens IF's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Vanderstraeten came free, but Yngve Fredriksson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Karl-Åke Termander managed to get in a good position for a shot. Djurgårdens IF's supporters rose to their feet, but Karl-Åke Termander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casper Claes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute, Edward Vanderstraeten reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Yngve Fredriksson. The goal made the score 3-0. 45 minutes into the match, Djurgårdens IF's goalkeeper Yngve Fredriksson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edward Vanderstraeten. Roy Lövskog made in the 46th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Belgium's Floris Claeys.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Karl-Åke Termander stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Yves Dervaux blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Yngve Fredriksson having to make a save. Belgium's Casper Claes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Belgium from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Karl-Åke Termander got free with Casper Claes in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 59 minutes into the match, Djurgårdens IF's Karl-Åke Termander sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Casper Claes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Laurens Vandamme charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Laurens Vandamme the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 61 minutes into the game, one of Belgium:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Kennet Forsman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Casper Claes having to make a save. 69 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Yngve Fredriksson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Edward Vanderstraeten scored 4-0 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Yngve Fredriksson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Djurgårdens IF made a substitution. Alex Vinström replaced Karl-Åke Termander. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten managed to get in a good position for a shot. Belgium's supporters rose to their feet, but Edward Vanderstraeten was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
