Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Gijsbert ter Kruimer started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fiume Veneto's goalkeeper Dario Addari, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 17 minutes into the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Dario Addari was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dario Addari took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Netherlands's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Cristoforo Volpe was slow to take the kick. During this time Fiume Veneto's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Cristoforo Volpe got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Arnout Reekers quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Dario Addari took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dario Addari breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristiano Graziano was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 37th minute. Fiume Veneto's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 43 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. Cristiano Graziano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristiano Graziano in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristiano Graziano to make the kick off. After having played for 50 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 53rd minute Demetrio Cannata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dario Addari showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Fiume Veneto's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Lars Meesters heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When Fiume Veneto's Cristoforo Volpe in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
