Sporting Clube de Gaya's Tarcísio Peixoto quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 13 minutes into the game, Edward Vanderstraeten cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. António Trubin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. António Trubin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 16th minute of the match. Floris Claeys made in the 20th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Sporting Clube de Gaya's Tarcísio Peixoto. António Trubin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Casper Claes made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Manuel Porto sent off a good shot on target. Belgium's Floris Claeys quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Tarcísio Peixoto, made in the 24th minute of the game. Belgium's Siebe Michiels quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Roque Euloxu, made in the 25th minute of the game. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fredy Montero in the 26th minute of the match. Fredy Montero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Casper Claes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Fredy Montero hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Sporting Clube de Gaya's António Trubin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 34th minute of play. António Trubin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yves Dervaux in the 36th minute of play. Fredy Montero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Casper Claes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Fredy Montero came free, but Casper Claes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Belgium's zone, Manuel Porto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Casper Claes came out of the goal and Manuel Porto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Belgium were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fredy Montero to strike the kick off in the second half. Sporting Clube de Gaya's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Edward Vanderstraeten 58 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-2. If Fredy Montero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with António Trubin in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Sporting Clube de Gaya's António Trubin got control of the ball when Edward Vanderstraeten tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Belgium's zone, Fredy Montero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Casper Claes came out of the goal and Fredy Montero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edward Vanderstraeten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Belgium booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaac Göransson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Paulino Maltez was substituted for Manuel Porto. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting Clube de Gaya's goalkeeper António Trubin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with António Trubin in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edward Vanderstraeten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but António Trubin made a huge save. A hard shot 85 in the game by Lenny Clocheret from a close distance when the talented António Trubin managed to make a qualified save. Sporting Clube de Gaya's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Fredy Montero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Clube de Gaya's supporters rose to their feet, but Fredy Montero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casper Claes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorge Lisboa charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorge Lisboa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 89th minute, Jorge Lisboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edward Vanderstraeten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Tarcísio Peixoto managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Floris Claeys in the 92 minute of the game. In the 94th minute, Paulino Maltez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Clube de Gaya fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Belgium's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
