After a rather tough play, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Grabiel Uranga got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Evelio Antoniano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stig-Åke Wall's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. In the 6th minute, Thiago Alcántara ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sven-Åke Springfält was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Evelio Antoniano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig-Åke Wall in the 8th minute of the match. In the 11th minute Martin Višňovský shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Antoniano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Martin Višňovský in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evelio Antoniano saved Criciúma Esporte Clube from getting behind. In the 13th minute Stig-Åke Wall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Antoniano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Criciúma Esporte Clube's Paulo Laurentzi fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. With a little luck, Gnaget AIK's Sven-Åke Springfält got control of the ball when Paulo Laurentzi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Criciúma Esporte Clube were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Gnaget AIK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Paulo Laurentzi took the corner. A very nice done corner allowed Baraquiel Frances to score against Sven-Åke Springfält in Gnaget AIK's goal. 2-0 after 21 minutes. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaztea Regalado got free with Sven-Åke Springfält in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Gaztea Regalado came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Criciúma Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaztea Regalado couldn't finish the play. Gaztea Regalado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Criciúma Esporte Clube booed when Gnaget AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven-Erik Sandström didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 41 played minutes, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Paulo Laurentzi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sven-Åke Springfält came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Criciúma Esporte Clube reached it. Paulo Laurentzi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gaztea Regalado made a kick off. In the 54th minute of the match, Stig-Åke Wall tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Evelio Antoniano saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 57 minutes into the game, one of Gnaget AIK:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Sven-Åke Springfält had in the 58thth minute some difficulties stopping Paulo Laurentzi's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Evelio Antoniano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denílson Ronaldinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. The supporters of Gnaget AIK booed when Criciúma Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaztea Regalado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Laurentzi took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sven-Åke Springfält. Sven-Åke Springfält dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Sven-Åke Springfält made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thiago Alcántara in the 81st minute of play. Evelio Antoniano made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Alvin Carlsson sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Luiz Valadares got a free kick in the 87th minute. Gnaget AIK's Elazaro Lazaeta managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Usub Raha in the 95 minute of the game. Thanks to some nice moves Denílson Ronaldinho could shoot a difficult shot in the 96th minute, which Evelio Antoniano however easily saved by the left post. Gnaget AIK's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
