After 5th play minutes Ramiro Enrique shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Wilson Amorim and just under the crossbar into goal. A collision led to lןןl La Coconeta getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Alejandro Cabrera hit a great ball. Daniel Pimentel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wilson Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ramiro Enrique went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. The Portugal fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Portugal's Viriato Moura looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ediberto Righi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes into the match, lןןl La Coconeta's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Ediberto Righi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ramiro Enrique made a kick off. Ediberto Righi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caetano Moreira in the 52nd minute of play. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Luis Sánchez in the 53rd minute of play.
