Neron Veterini scored 1-0 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Portugal's Wilson Amorim got control of the ball when Fred Nilsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Felipe Barreto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jake Leonard having to make a save. In the 18th minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jake Leonard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Leonel Cordaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the match, WINNING ELEVEN's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Jake Leonard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Ostadar in the 26th minute of play. Jake Leonard stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Viriato Moura's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. In the 35th minute Felipe Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jake Leonard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute, Leonel Cordaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute Neron Veterini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th minute Felipe Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jake Leonard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raul Caetano hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neron Veterini in the 42nd minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the game, Felipe Barreto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Jake Leonard was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Viriato Moura made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Portugal's Caetano Moreira fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 56th minute, Andro Reiman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Jake Leonard made a huge save. In the 61st minute, Felipe Barreto reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jake Leonard. The goal made the score 1-2. WINNING ELEVEN's Fulgencio Xabel was substituted for Vilhelm Gustafsson. Jake Leonard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute Fred Nilsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. WINNING ELEVEN's Ringo Howard was substituted for Abelardo Bidari. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafin Elizardo in the 80th minute of play. If Neron Veterini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 85th minute, Fulgencio Xabel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fred Nilsson in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. In the 91st minute Fulgencio Xabel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. WINNING ELEVEN were awarded a corner in the 92th minute after Portugal's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Serafin Elizardo took the corner. 94 minutes into the match, WINNING ELEVEN's goalkeeper Jake Leonard had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bartolomeu Dias. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
