If Viriato Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fenerbahce ISTANBUL's goalkeeper Mehmet Edip Nazmi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 42 minutes into the match, Fenerbahce ISTANBUL's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Mehmet Edip Nazmi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mehmet Edip Nazmi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portugal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Viriato Moura to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 61st minute Florian De Werdt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Portugal's zone, Florian De Werdt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal and Florian De Werdt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Portugal's attentive Daniel Pimentel managed to snatch the ball when Ersin Bakay made a throw-in in the 65th minute of the game. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. After a rather tough play, Fenerbahce ISTANBUL's Sigvard Åkesson got a free kick in the 78th minute. Mehmet Edip Nazmi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bartolomeu Dias in the 81st minute of play. Mehmet Edip Nazmi was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Bartolomeu Dias showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-3 in the 82 minute of play. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florian De Werdt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mehmet Edip Nazmi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipinho Amorim, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute.
