Cai Yue Guang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 15th minute of the match. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Manuel Isăilă sent off a good shot on target. Cai Yue Guang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 21st minute of play forced Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Cai Yue Guang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manuel Isăilă succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 27th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 32nd minute of play forced Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Cai Yue Guang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ninjas in Pyjamas's Manuel Isăilă in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 40th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gijsbert ter Kruimer to strike the kick off in the second half. Kees Mooiweer made in the 52nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Ninjas in Pyjamas's Armağan Yörük. When Denílson 慕容 came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Ninjas in Pyjamas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denílson 慕容 couldn't finish the play. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Cai Yue Guang made a huge save. 69 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Isăilă came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 76 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Kees Mooiweer. 77 minutes into the game, Ninjas in Pyjamas's Manuel Isăilă nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Isăilă in the 82nd minute of the match. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ghitã Butuc, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Manuel Isăilă managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ninjas in Pyjamas's supporters rose to their feet, but Manuel Isăilă was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th minute, one of Netherlands:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Netherlands. Rareș Tatulici did an outstanding performance 98 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 3-2 to the right of an irritated Arnout Reekers in the goal. Ninjas in Pyjamas's Emanuele Clementi was substituted for Hector Morientes. For all the effort they put into the match, the Netherlands players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ninjas in Pyjamas.
