Germany were awarded a corner in the 4th minute after Sporting Burgas's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Frank Sachs took the corner. The corner ended in Linus Schwerner almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sporting Burgas's Álvaro Perpiñán did a great save. In the 10th minute, Vintilă Ghițulescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Burgas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Tommy Kahn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cedro Pantoja in the 13th minute. 17 minutes into the game, Sporting Burgas's Ke Xiong Chen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Kahn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Vintilă Ghițulescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Burgas's supporters rose to their feet, but Vintilă Ghițulescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With his leg Tommy Kahn managed to avoid a goal in the 27thth minute, when Sporting Burgas's Cedro Pantoja fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 40th minute Sporting Burgas were awarded a corner. Davor Šuker went to the cornerflag to take it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

In the 51st minute, Davor Šuker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sporting Burgas's defense didn't have a chance, in the 78th minute, when Frank Sachs scored to the left of an out of position Álvaro Perpiñán, making the score, 3-2. Oskars Junco kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. There was no doubt that Sporting Burgas were the better team. Sporting Burgas's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
