An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 2nd minute of play forced Sociedad Anónima's goalkeeper Matxin Uceda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matxin Uceda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sociedad Anónima's Matxin Uceda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 5th minute of play. When Francho Castroviejo fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sociedad Anónima's protests and gave Francho Castroviejo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th match minute, Sociedad Anónima was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francho Castroviejo to maneuver through the defense. Wim Wilmes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Matxin Uceda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 13th minute of play. Sociedad Anónima's Matxin Uceda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 15th minute of play. Matxin Uceda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Sociedad Anónima getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Orland Beltranilla hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sociedad Anónima's zone, Gijsbert ter Kruimer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matxin Uceda came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 25th minute, David Eikelkamp made a precise shot to the right of Matxin Uceda. Sociedad Anónima's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 28 minutes into the game, one of Netherlands:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Josepe Camarero scored 1-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnout Reekers, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sociedad Anónima's Matxin Uceda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 41st minute of play. Nuno Mazorra hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match.

Kees Mooiweer hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. 57 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Sociedad Anónima's Matxin Uceda. Matxin Uceda was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 60 minutes of play Sociedad Anónima's Francho Castroviejo was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Sociedad Anónima getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Francho Castroviejo hit a great ball. Matxin Uceda made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 64th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Matxin Uceda, 1-3. Lars Meesters received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Matxin Uceda came out and tried to block the shot, but Lars Meesters slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 72nd minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's late challenge caught a Sociedad Anónima's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gustaaf Groeneveldt helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Sociedad Anónima booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustaaf Groeneveldt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sociedad Anónima's Ubarna Huertas was substituted for Herensuge Villafranca. Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldts short, quick shot in the 81stth minute got Matxin Uceda to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Sociedad Anónima getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Raulo Pachon hit a great ball. Sociedad Anónima's Josepe Camarero suffered a concussion after 88 minutes and had to leave the field. During the 88th minute of the match Gustaaf Groeneveldt completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gustaaf Groeneveldt a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 91st match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustaaf Groeneveldt to maneuver through the defense. If Ubarna Huertas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Netherlands played a much better game than Sociedad Anónima and deserved their victory. The Sociedad Anónima players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
