After 13 played minutes Odeweg FSV got a freekick which was hit by Klaus Urban. Herminio Iztal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Belgium's Casper Claes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Belgium from getting a goal against them. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Odeweg FSV's goalkeeper Herminio Iztal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A sloppy throw-in by Gerald Kröger in the 27th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Belgium's Lenny Clocheret. In the 33rd minute Eckehard Deckert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 41st minute of play forced Odeweg FSV's goalkeeper Herminio Iztal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conrad Furesi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Conrad Furesi in the 46th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

With a little luck, Odeweg FSV's Herminio Iztal got control of the ball when Edward Vanderstraeten tried to sneak it across the goal line. Casper Claes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Herminio Iztal made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a good shot on target. If Edward Vanderstraeten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
