Esporte Club Bahia's Marcelo Lomba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuele Kunz in the 15th minute of play. Switzerland's Hias Nüssli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viggo Lidström in the 23rd minute of play. Jacinto Maurer blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcelo Lomba having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Maurer in the 25th minute of play forced Esporte Club Bahia's goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Switzerland booed when Esporte Club Bahia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clóvis Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. He was immediately shown a red card. 35 minutes into the game, one of Esporte Club Bahia:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Rodrigo von Känel kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Tiago Xavier, 43 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Switzerland's zone, Luiz Gustavo Paes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hias Nüssli came out of the goal and Luiz Gustavo Paes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, Jacinto Maurer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Viggo Lidström made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Switzerland's zone, Viggo Lidström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hias Nüssli came out of the goal and Viggo Lidström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Luiz Gustavo Paes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samuele Kunz charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Samuele Kunz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Switzerland's Samuele Kunz got a free kick in the 71st minute. Hias Nüssli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viggo Lidström in the 72nd minute of play. Hias Nüssli came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Esporte Club Bahia's Viggo Lidström. But to his dismay, Viggo Lidström quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Tiago Xavier recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Viggo Lidström's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hias Nüssli was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. Jacinto Maurer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Switzerland were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
