An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Miranda in the 28th minute of play forced Tello AFC's goalkeeper Dalmacio Pello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felipe Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Viriato Moura hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. 46 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pastor Nofre. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. Dalmacio Pello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 51st minute of play.
