After 7 played minutes MAFFIAN got a freekick which was hit by Alf Säfström. 9 minutes into the match, MAFFIAN's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Sachs came free, but Aron Dahlbom reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After taking down the ball on Germany's corner Frank Sachs fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Aron Dahlbom quite easily take care of the ball. Albin Holweck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tommy Kahn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pete Sampras in the 16th minute. Pete Sampras's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. MAFFIAN's Börje Frisk got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Germany were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frank Sachs made a kick off. In the 51st match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Malte Schiele to maneuver through the defense. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
