The Ardiles fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emanuel Jacob should have stopped the shot. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Emanuel Jacob made a huge save. In the 27th minute, Jimeno Abastas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ardiles fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. The referee gave Cristo Basajaun a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Donato Venerando's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Arnout Reekers firmly grabbed it by the left post. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Jacob having to interfere. Gijsbert ter Kruimer scored 6-1 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emanuel Jacob, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donato Venerando in the 77th minute. In the 78th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt made a precise shot to the right of Emanuel Jacob. Ardiles's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-1. Netherlands walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
