When Gijsbert ter Kruimer came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't finish the play. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fathoni Andrich, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 18th minute, Sten Helström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Ivan Sjögren in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fathoni Andrich in the 20th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Ivan Sjögren threw himself towards the right post 22 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. FC Zorro's players were relieved. 40 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivan Sjögren narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the FC Zorro defense, Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ivan Sjögren. The FC Zorro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ivan Sjögren should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ted Lööf during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC Zorro's Ted Lööf got a free kick in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 56 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ivan Sjögren made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 58th minute of play forced FC Zorro's goalkeeper Ivan Sjögren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fathoni Andrich in the 60th minute of the match. A collision led to FC Zorro getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Sten Helström hit a great ball. 63 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of FC Zorro's Ivan Sjögren. Ivan Sjögren was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gustaaf Groeneveldt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Netherlands booed when FC Zorro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fathoni Andrich didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute Fathoni Andrich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ivan Sjögren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 84 minutes, Sten Helström mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Zorro and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fathoni Andrich succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-1 in the 87th playminute. Ivan Sjögren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 90th minute of play. Lars Meesters hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. In the 95th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Sjögren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, FC Zorro's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Ivan Sjögren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner led Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt to fire away a dangerous shot which Ivan Sjögren despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC Zorro players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Netherlands.
