George Buturugã showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Olaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. With an all-out effort, LOI's Carol Stinga threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sulo Montaña, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. LOI were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Romania's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ahmet Hamdi Ortan took the corner. 29 minutes into the match, Sulo Montaña had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carol Stinga. Romania's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sulo Montaña was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Costica Vladimiri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the game, Sanda Cutov cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. George Buturugã was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. George Buturugã made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sanda Cutov in the 40th minute of play. When Sanda Cutov came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Romania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sanda Cutov couldn't finish the play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sulo Montaña to strike the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes LOI got a freekick which was hit by Sulo Montaña. Özgür Özbay took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carol Stinga. Carol Stinga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Romania's Anton Stinga was substituted for Adam Olaru. Sulo Montaña might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carol Stinga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sulo Montaña ran back to his position shaking his head. Carol Stinga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sulo Montaña went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Romania's Octavian Vaduva was substituted for Costica Vladimiri. LOI's Hüseyin Cahit Gökdoğan was substituted for Habib Durukan. In the 77th minute of the match, Vasile Ciumak tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but George Buturugã saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 78th minute Romania were awarded a corner. Sanda Cutov went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Romania's corner Vasile Ciumak fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and George Buturugã quite easily take care of the ball. The Romania fans' excitement grew in the 79th match minute when Romania's Vasile Ciumak looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Carol Stinga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sulo Montaña in the 82nd minute of the match. LOI's George Buturugã played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anton Stinga in the 83rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anton Stinga in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg George Buturugã saved LOI from getting behind. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for LOI! Hüseyin Cahit Gökdoğan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Carol Stinga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Sanda Cutov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Romania's supporters rose to their feet, but Sanda Cutov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. George Buturugã breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carol Stinga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kerimhan Cevher went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-3 was the resulting score. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The LOI fans cheered their team off the field, for while Romania had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
