Seating: 11, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off which started today's match. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriano Ribeiro in the 3rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in The Obscurials's zone, Lars Meesters stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Safet Hands came out of the goal and Lars Meesters tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Safet Hands made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 12th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Nicasio Guillen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Safet Hands made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 22nd minute of play. The Obscurials's attentive Anton Kjellkvist managed to snatch the ball when Gust Ennemans made a throw-in in the 28th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anders Westerstrand in the 29th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Safet Hands made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 32nd minute of play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Safet Hands came out and tried to block the shot, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 34th minute. After 36 minutes of play, The Obscurials's Anders Westerstrand made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arnout Reekers was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Netherlands booed when The Obscurials was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anton Kjellkvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Adriano Ribeiro came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the The Obscurials fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adriano Ribeiro couldn't finish the play. After 46 minutes of play, The Obscurials's Anders Westerstrand made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arnout Reekers was left in no man's land by his defense there!
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anders Westerstrand was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. A very nice done corner allowed Egbert Nijveldt to score against Safet Hands in The Obscurials's goal. 2-2 after 54 minutes. The throw-in from Gust Ennemans in the 57th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by The Obscurials's Nicasio Guillen. Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anders Westerstrand received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 64 minutes into the match, The Obscurials's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Safet Hands reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adriano Ribeiro struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Arnout Reekers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Obscurials. In the 81st minute, Adriano Ribeiro made a precise shot to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. In the 88th minute, Anders Westerstrand got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Safet Hands showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 91st minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Obscurials were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Netherlands's much stronger midfield.
