The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Melquiades Amor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 4 minutes into the match, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Melquiades Amor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. With a little luck, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's Melquiades Amor got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. 7 minutes into the match, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Melquiades Amor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. Melquiades Amor made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Melquiades Amor came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David Eikelkamp made a great header on Netherlands's corner, it was just that CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's Melquiades Amor managed to reach the ball for a save. Netherlands:s Arnout Reekers showed great skill when he stopped Erik Thorvaldsson:s penalty. Wim Wilmes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Melquiades Amor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 35th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Genko Balevski's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Genko Balevski helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's Genko Balevski got a free kick in the 40th minute. Melquiades Amor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 41st minute of the match. In the 46th minute Bas Tuitert suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. Netherlands made a substitution. Kevin Drogt replaced Bas Tuitert. In the 47th match minute, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hulk Fenomeno to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt scored 3-0 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Melquiades Amor, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lars Meesters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hulk Fenomeno in the 57th minute. Edmundo Valle hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. In the 65th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Melquiades Amor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Gijsbert ter Kruimer came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't finish the play. Melquiades Amor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 76th minute of play. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hulk Fenomeno in the 78th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Netherlands's zone, Hulk Fenomeno stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal and Hulk Fenomeno tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hulk Fenomeno in the 85th minute of play. When Genko Balevski was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 90 minutes had been played. Genko Balevski hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Netherlands's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
