In the 7th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Matos Velhos's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 8th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike van Kampen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Sabino Vilhena came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Matos Velhos's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Mike van Kampen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Matos Velhos's Arnout Reekers threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sabino Vilhena, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henrique Candal in the 18th minute. The Matos Velhos fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when Matos Velhos's Henrique Candal looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 25 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mike van Kampen. Matos Velhos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustaaf Groeneveldt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After 28 played minutes Matos Velhos got a freekick which was hit by Henrique Candal. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Heigo Luiga tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Mathijn Doctor fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Netherlands's protests and gave Mathijn Doctor a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Mathijn Doctor hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute of the match Heigo Luiga sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers skillfully saved the ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Mike van Kampen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Henrique Candal sent off a good shot on target. Mike van Kampen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 40th minute of the match. Henrique Candal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sabino Vilhena, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Mathijn Doctor hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. In the 47th minute Heigo Luiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Wilmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mike van Kampen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mike van Kampen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Eikelkamp, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Matos Velhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrique Candal didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 60th minute, Jiang Qing Lin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 66 played minutes Matos Velhos got a freekick which was hit by Jiang Qing Lin. Matos Velhos made a substitution. Lee Beckford replaced Heigo Luiga. Matos Velhos made a substitution. Karl Nietlisbach replaced Henrique Candal. Matos Velhos's Generoso Silvino was substituted for Lisandro Fagundes. After a rather tough play, Matos Velhos's Jiang Qing Lin got a free kick in the 67th minute. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mike van Kampen having to interfere. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lee Beckford in the 89th minute of play. When the match clock showed 89 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Karl Nietlisbach sped through Netherlands's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lee Beckford, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Arnout Reekers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Karl Nietlisbach went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. The Matos Velhos support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
