Pepe Toxeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sigfrido Auletta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 18 minutes into the match, Renato Tapia notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Italy's Flavio Vittori. Flavio Vittori was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Pepe Toxeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 22nd minute of the match. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Real Club Celta de Vigo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sigfrido Auletta was slow to take the kick. During this time Italy's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Deodato Magliozzi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Pepe Toxeiro quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Italy were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Real Club Celta de Vigo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sigfrido Auletta took the corner. After 25 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Zaccheo Andolina. 27 minutes into the match, Real Club Celta de Vigo's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Pepe Toxeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 29th minute, Renato Tapia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Flavio Vittori was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Pepe Toxeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 33rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Real Club Celta de Vigo's Renato Tapia got a free kick in the 33rd minute. With a little luck, Italy's Flavio Vittori got control of the ball when Renato Tapia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Pepe Toxeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 38th minute of play. Pepe Toxeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Porziano Marchitelli in the 41st minute of play. In the 42nd match minute, Real Club Celta de Vigo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubén Blanco to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the match, Real Club Celta de Vigo's goal looked a bit too open when Sostene Vitulli came free, but Pepe Toxeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Porziano Marchitelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Through an outstanding action, after 54 minutes, Pepe Toxeiro successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 59th match minute, Italy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Cutri to maneuver through the defense. Pepe Toxeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Cordera Unzueta kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Porziano Marchitelli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Pepe Toxeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Unai Nuñez was substituted for Cordera Unzueta. In the 73rd minute, Eliseo Cutri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Everardo Arias got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pepe Toxeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 81st minute.
