Romania's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adam Olaru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 14 minutes into the match, Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Ahmet İlke Ertüze came free, but Carol Stinga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dorel Bolborici made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Olaru in the 17th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Romania's goalkeeper Carol Stinga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ahmet İlke Ertüze. Dorel Bolborici showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Costica Vladimiri, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
