Sven Krakouer's late challenge caught a River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sven Krakouer helped the player get up and apologised. 25 minutes into the game, Artemio Filipo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Tommy Kahn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rene Chale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulrich Stein in the 28th minute of play. Raul Goyo might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Kahn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raul Goyo ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, River Plate's Tommy Kahn threw himself towards the right post 33 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from 冯岩默, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Tommy Kahn didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 36th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. After a rather tough play, River Plate's Artemio Filipo got a free kick in the 39th minute. Ovidio Fix hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. In the 48th minute, Germany's Chris Mergenthaler seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Chris Mergenthaler the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Germany protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Chris Mergenthaler had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Germany! The goalkeeper, Tommy Kahn, was totally fooled by River Plate's Teodosio Tulio, who 49 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Artemio Filipo made a kick off. Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 冯岩默 in the 57th minute of the match. River Plate were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after Germany's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Teodosio Tulio took the corner. After taking down the ball on River Plate's corner Teodosio Tulio fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tommy Kahn quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raul Goyo in the 60th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raul Goyo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Kahn having to interfere. Frank Sachs kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Artemio Filipo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adrian Dreifuss charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adrian Dreifuss the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 70 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Dreifuss. In the 71st minute, Artemio Filipo made a precise shot to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Albin Holweck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rene Chale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albin Holweck in the 77th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by 冯岩默 in the 93rd minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 冯岩默 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Tommy Kahn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raul Goyo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tommy Kahn having to make a save.
