The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-12. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-12 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arnout Boswijk to strike the kick off in the second half. After 88 minutes, Paul van Mol mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ágætis Byrjun and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 88th match minute, Ágætis Byrjun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paul van Mol to maneuver through the defense. 91 minutes into the game, Gustaaf Groeneveldt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-21. Ágætis Byrjun's Han van Asten managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 98 minute of the game. Netherlands's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
