Ortzi Calzado started the match with the kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute, Polad Bäbirov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joel Löfgren got free with Arnout Reekers in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 16th minute Şamaxı Bankirlər were awarded a corner. Hugo Neiva went to the cornerflag to take it. Mänsur Rzayev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 17th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 20th minute of play forced Şamaxı Bankirlər's goalkeeper Mänsur Rzayev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rdth minute of the game Gustaaf Groeneveldt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Şamaxı Bankirlər's Mänsur Rzayev was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Şamaxı Bankirlər's Tolek Dankowski. But to his dismay, Tolek Dankowski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Tolek Dankowski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnout Reekers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mänsur Rzayev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 35th minute, Tolek Dankowski made a precise shot to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 43rd minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tolek Dankowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. Sälim Mahmudov hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tolek Dankowski in the 54th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mänsur Rzayev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Şamaxı Bankirlər's Mänsur Rzayev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 59th minute of play. Joel Löfgren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mänsur Rzayev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 64th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rein Asi during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Netherlands made a substitution. Bart Zomerhuis replaced Gijsbert ter Kruimer. Rein Asi kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Ortzi Calzado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Tolek Dankowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kees Mooiweer made in the 86th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Bart Zomerhuis immediately put the ball in play. After 92 minutes, Sälim Mahmudov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Şamaxı Bankirlər and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gustaaf Groeneveldt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mänsur Rzayev. Şamaxı Bankirlər's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Mänsur Rzayev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bart Zomerhuis, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. 95 minutes into the game, Ryszard Kilar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Şamaxı Bankirlər's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. In the 95th match minute, Şamaxı Bankirlər was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryszard Kilar to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Şamaxı Bankirlər fans cheered their team off the field, for while Netherlands had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
