The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Malte Schiele to maneuver through the defense. Tommy Kahn made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Pastor Eufemio sent off a good shot on target. When Club Atlético de Newell's Devon Howson in the 5th minute got a chance for a shot 5th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Germany's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sebastian Percival in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy Kahn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute of the match, Spike Foley tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tommy Kahn saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, Germany's Adrian Dreifuss got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 11th minute, Devon Howson made a precise shot to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Sebastian Percival took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Tommy Kahn to make any attempt to save it. In the 19th play minute Pastor Eufemio came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Tommy Kahn. 3-0. 22 minutes into the match, Devon Howson notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Germany's Tommy Kahn. Tommy Kahn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 26 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Dreifuss. Tommy Kahn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sebastian Percival's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Sachs in the 30th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Club Atlético de Newell fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 32nd minute. Penalty! Sebastian Percival recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Sachs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dušan Ančic having to interfere. After 60 minutes of play, Club Atlético de Newell's Sebastian Percival made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tommy Kahn was left in no man's land by his defense there! 64 minutes in the game, Albin Holweck fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Dušan Ančic having to interfere. The supporters of Club Atlético de Newell booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven Krakouer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastian Percival's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Kahn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Wilton Mandrak hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Tommy Kahn didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Club Atlético de Newell's Devon Howson shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 6-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Sebastian Percival struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Tommy Kahn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético de Newell. In the 85th minute, Devon Howson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tommy Kahn was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-1. After 90 played minutes Club Atlético de Newell got a freekick which was hit by Cliff Kershaw. Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albin Holweck in the 94th minute of play. 96 minutes into the game, Club Atlético de Newell's Sebastian Percival nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Kahn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-1. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Club Atlético de Newell had won after a very even match.
