When Remus Nuțu fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Poli Iași's protests and gave Remus Nuțu a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 played minutes Poli Iași got a freekick which was hit by Remus Nuțu. With a little luck, Poli Iași's Nicu Timofte got control of the ball when Samuele Kunz tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Poli Iași's Irinel Onișoru got a free kick in the 12th minute. When Adrian Elian fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Poli Iași's protests and gave Adrian Elian a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Switzerland booed when Poli Iași was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Elian didn't get a good kick on the ball. Remus Nuțu took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hias Nüssli. Hias Nüssli dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 25th minute of the game George Baldu made a throw-in which Remus Nuțu played forward. Remus Nuțu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th minute, Sergiu Gherguț got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Irinel Onișoru during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 29th minute, Irinel Onișoru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nicu Timofte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuele Kunz in the 31st minute of play. Hias Nüssli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remus Nuțu, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 33rdth minute of the game Remus Nuțu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Switzerland's Hias Nüssli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Levi von Herren was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 36 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Switzerland fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Poli Iași a penalty, 37 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Remus Nuțu, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Switzerland's Hias Nüssli. 0-2. 47 minutes into the game, Jacinto Maurer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Switzerland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Poli Iași the free kick. After a rather tough play, Switzerland's Jacinto Maurer got a free kick in the 47th minute.

The wind increased when Jacinto Maurer made the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Switzerland got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Maurer. Remus Nuțu might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hias Nüssli. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Remus Nuțu ran back to his position shaking his head. Switzerland's Hias Nüssli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Switzerland from getting a goal against them. 58 minutes into the game, Poli Iași's Remus Nuțu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hias Nüssli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sergiu Gherguț got free with Hias Nüssli in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Switzerland's Hias Nüssli got control of the ball when Remus Nuțu tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Switzerland's zone, Remus Nuțu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hias Nüssli came out of the goal and Remus Nuțu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicu Timofte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacinto Maurer in the 68th minute of the match. Remus Nuțu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hias Nüssli having to interfere. Sergiu Gherguț received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Hias Nüssli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hias Nüssli made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Olimpiu Luca sent off a good shot on target. The Switzerland manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Poli Iași to win.
