In the 22nd minute, Viriato Moura left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Viriato Moura recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the game, Bruno Bastos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portugal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Menchu FC the free kick. The referee gave Menchu FC a penalty, 46 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Arnoldo Rudolfo, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Portugal's Wilson Amorim. 1-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viriato Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Timoteo Colas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
