Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joar Scheie having to interfere. When Celestino Poncio fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CAN ERZURUM's protests and gave Celestino Poncio a yellow card for diving instead. Celestino Poncio kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 18th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joar Scheie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Netherlands's defense didn't have a chance, in the 20th minute, when Sven-Olof Vestlund scored to the left of an out of position Arnout Reekers, making the score, 1-0. In the 24th minute, Sven-Olof Vestlund got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joar Scheie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Sven-Olof Vestlund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mehmet Poyraz kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Joar Scheie made a huge save. Mehmet Şefik Karadağ might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnout Reekers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. CAN ERZURUM's Joar Scheie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 73rd minute of play. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Olof Vestlund in the 92nd minute of the match. Arda Turan kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. CAN ERZURUM's Atabek Tecimen was substituted for Sven-Olof Vestlund. After 94 played minutes CAN ERZURUM got a freekick which was hit by Arda Turan. For all the effort they put into the match, the Netherlands players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for CAN ERZURUM.
