An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivar Alin in the 27th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 29 minutes, Albin Holweck managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Germany's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albin Holweck was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Sachs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
