In the 23rdth minute of the game Lech Prusinowski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Serbia's Zvezdan Nedeljkovic was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 25 minutes, Vladeta Jovic managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Serbia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vladeta Jovic was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugeniusz Golec in the 33rd minute of play forced Serbia's goalkeeper Zvezdan Nedeljkovic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Bolleinen were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Wieslaw Milko made in the 67th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Eugeniusz Golec however managed to control. Eugeniusz Golec could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Zvezdan Nedeljkovic made a huge save. After 71 minutes, Czeslaw Kosel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bolleinen and the Serbia players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st match minute, Bolleinen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Czeslaw Kosel to maneuver through the defense.
