In the 7th minute, Vinicio Carballeira made a precise shot to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Portugal's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Felipe Barreto in the 16th minute. The audience was convinced that Graciano Coutinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Donald Fenwick was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Moura in the 31st minute of play forced Memphis Grizzlies's goalkeeper Donald Fenwick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donald Fenwick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After 38 minutes of play, Portugal's Caetano Moreira made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Donald Fenwick was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Viriato Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Memphis Grizzlies getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Ronny Theobold hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. Vinicio Carballeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Amorim having to interfere. Daniel Pimentel kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Daniel Pimentel hit a great ball. Memphis Grizzlies's Ian Prutton was substituted for Ty Hislop. Memphis Grizzlies made a substitution. Stuart Banks replaced Vinicio Carballeira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stuart Banks in the 64th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute Daniel Pimentel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald Fenwick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th match minute, Memphis Grizzlies was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Mudarra to maneuver through the defense. Maksymilian Trzemzalski hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Felipinho Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 89th minute, Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Donald Fenwick. Donald Fenwick yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-5. Memphis Grizzlies's Stuart Banks got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Portugal supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Portugal would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
