Matias Ferrandis was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 34 minutes into the match. 34 minutes into the game, one of Spain:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Yao Bin Yun was a little too slow when Enrique Rabellino got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 41st minute. The score was now 2-0. Enrique Rabellino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yao Bin Yun having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

52 minutes into the game, Santiago Sartori threw the ball into play from the sideline. Fundação Marques dos Reis's Tiago Ferreira quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 58 minutes into the match, Fundação Marques dos Reis's Taras Romanchuk sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gabriel Ascaso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Taras Romanchuk's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gabriel Ascaso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play.
