Malte Schiele kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wieslaw Mazierz in the 67th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Germany's zone, Holger Ettur stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal and Holger Ettur tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
