Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Guilherme Aparecido having to interfere. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. Gijsbert ter Kruimer might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Guilherme Aparecido. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran back to his position shaking his head. Gustaaf Groeneveldt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Rio Pardo MZC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Manfredo Siqueira hit a great ball. In the 15th minute of the match Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luís Guilherme Aparecido showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enéas Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnout Reekers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enéas Lago's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. After having played for 29 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Gustaaf Groeneveldt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Guilherme Aparecido was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd minute Maximiliano Lalatu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 38th minute of play forced Rio Pardo MZC's goalkeeper Luís Guilherme Aparecido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A nice corner shot did that Gijsbert ter Kruimer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Luís Guilherme Aparecido quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Luís Guilherme Aparecido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Rio Pardo MZC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Victor Berti hit a great ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 44 minutes into the game, when Bas Tuitert put in a rough tackle. In the 45th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bas Tuitert to maneuver through the defense. Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a good chance for a goal in the 49th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Gustaaf Groeneveldt made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luís Guilherme Aparecido made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. 67 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rio Pardo MZC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Netherlands's Lars Meesters to fire away a dangerous shot which Luís Guilherme Aparecido despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience was convinced that Lars Meesters's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Guilherme Aparecido was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Rio Pardo MZC's goalie and right to Wim Wilmes. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Rio Pardo MZC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 70 minutes into the match, Maximiliano Lalatu notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Netherlands's Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Luís Guilherme Aparecido in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 79 minutes Rio Pardo MZC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enéas Lago in the 80th minute of play. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Pardo MZC's zone, Gustaaf Groeneveldt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Guilherme Aparecido came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Guilherme Aparecido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maximiliano Lalatu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free with the goalkeeper in the 89th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Luís Guilherme Aparecido could save by the left post. Luís Guilherme Aparecido didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After 95 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Gijsbert ter Kruimer.
