The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Portugal's zone, Song Wei Yun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal and Song Wei Yun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adam Jansson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Seraċini Għawdxin booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felipe Barreto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 13 minutes of play, Seraċini Għawdxin's Song Wei Yun made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bennvar Noobel prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
