Janusz Pusiak could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. 2kC Poznań's Tadeusz Rutkowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 15th minute of play. After 18 played minutes 2kC Poznań got a freekick which was hit by Fernando Ekialde. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Tadeusz Rutkowski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind 2kC Poznań's goalkeeper Tadeusz Rutkowski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 33 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. The long shot by Edgar Turak in the 34th minute really tested Arnout Reekers's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 2kC Poznań's Tadeusz Rutkowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 36th minute of play. In the 47th minute, David Eikelkamp made a precise shot to the right of Tadeusz Rutkowski. 2kC Poznań's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of 2kC Poznań booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathijn Doctor didn't get a good kick on the ball.
