Meelis Vananurm took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 9 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wasyl Zgonina. 10 minutes into the match, ◄19A10► Widzew Łódź's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Meelis Vananurm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 11 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maicon Pontes. Maicon Pontes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. In the 14th match minute, ◄19A10► Widzew Łódź was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hennes Wickihalter to maneuver through the defense. After 18 minutes of play, ◄19A10► Widzew Łódź's Marcelo Abreu made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilson Amorim was left in no man's land by his defense there! 21 minutes into the game, Felipe Barreto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Meelis Vananurm was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 23rd minute, Hennes Wickihalter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Meelis Vananurm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 26th minute of play. In the 32nd minute Marcelo Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Felipe Barreto came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Portugal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felipe Barreto couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Lindi Mena came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Meelis Vananurm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Pimentel, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After 53 minutes of play, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Meelis Vananurm was left in no man's land by his defense there! Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. ◄19A10► Widzew Łódź's Meelis Vananurm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bartolomeu Dias in the 72nd minute of play. After 74th play minutes Marcelo Abreu shot 3-3, a short shot which went by Wilson Amorim and just under the crossbar into goal. Erubiel Justin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Erubiel Justin in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. With a little luck, ◄19A10► Widzew Łódź's Meelis Vananurm got control of the ball when Felipinho Amorim tried to sneak it across the goal line. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erubiel Justin in the 84th minute of the match. Erubiel Justin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marcelo Abreu might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilson Amorim. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcelo Abreu ran back to his position shaking his head. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 89th minute after ◄19A10► Widzew Łódź's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Pimentel took the corner. In the 92nd minute, Felipinho Amorim ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Meelis Vananurm was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-4. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Bruno Bastos got a free kick in the 95th minute. After having played for 96 minutes, Marcin Wasilewski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ◄19A10► Widzew Łódź's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcin Wasilewski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Portugal walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
